Each example below contains an idiom related to clothes.  Can you guess the meaning of each idiom from the context?  Try to match each idiom (1-8) with its definition (a-h).

  • I wouldn't want to be in Anna's shoes.  She works late every day and when she gets home, she has to cook dinner and take care of her 3 children.

  • Taro went to meet the Emperor dressed to kill in his tuxedo, silk shirt, and bow tie.

  • Hey!  You look really nice in that dress.  It fits you like a glove.

  • His father gave him a dressing down for acting irresponsibly.

  • Being a journalist is not easy.  You have to be able to go somewhere at the drop of a hat.

  • Don't be so angry!  Calm down!  Keep your shirt on!

  • We have a lot of work to do today so let's roll up our sleeves!

  • John is such a stuffed shirt.  He hardly ever laughs or jokes and you can never find him at a party!
