Unit 3.4: Guest - What to Say

Units 3.2 and 3.3 show expressions which a host can use.  In this Unit, we will look at expressions which a guest can use upon arriving at the host's.

  • What to Say for Late Arrival

  • Sorry I'm late.  I couldn't get a taxi.

  • Sorry to have kept you waiting.  The bus/the train was late.

  • Sorry to be late.  I missed the train/the bus.

  • Sorry I'm late.  I got stuck in traffic.

  • Sorry I'm late.  The traffic was terrible!

  • Sorry to be late.  I got lost.

  • Sorry to be late.  I was looking for a place to park.

  • Have you been waiting long?
